This is What Football Season Will Do to You...

Yikes! What happened to my stud-ly husband?!? Ha!

So Friday was my 28th B'day and my husband took off work. I was able to get a highlight and eyebrow wax in the morning then my momma came down in the afternoon and Don and I went on our first date since Kate and saw The Informant. The movie had wonderful reviews so we had high hopes. It wasn't a bad movie but I wanted some serious laughs and didn't get them. I stayed confused most of the movie. Don't you love those kind? Anyway, we picked up some Costas Mediterranean on the way home. We all enjoyed the Chicken Parmigiana then everyone was wiped completely out. Mom and Dad gave me a Anthropology shower curtain for the guest bathroom/Kate's bathroom. It really updated it's look. Mom also made a photo album of me through the years. It was so much fun to look back at all the transformations. I got alot of laughs out of those. I told Don that he could give me a chemical peel. Well I have never had one of those and thought that was what my face needed. After going to the dermatologist Monday of last week, I learned I just needed a facial. :) So yay, I get to spend that money on something else.

Saturday, Mom, Ashley, and I headed to T-town for the Bama vs. North Texas game. I tried to sell the 4 tickets we had bought before the season started earlier in the week. With no success (due to it being televised and being a 11:20am game + potentially bad weather)I decided we must go down instead of throwing the tickets out the window. I told Ashley that I would call her Saturday morning and let her know if we were for sure going (again due to potentially heavy rain). We woke up, it was raining but I told mom lets go on down and if it looks miserable we will go to Starbucks, enjoy a cup of Joe and then head home. It was flooding rain the whole way down until we got within 10 minutes of campus and then the rain stopped and the sun started to come out. Waahlah! It was meant to be. We enjoyed the game but left after halftime when the game was 30-0.

After dropping off Ashley, and mom heading home, I spent a short amount of time with my munchkin then headed to Kid's Market Consignment Sale.

This was my 2nd time to go to the sale. My first was in the Spring. I learn something new everytime I go. Last time I learned if you contribute at least 10 items to the sale you get to shop a priority day. I thought you couldn't bring anything inside beside a small purse. They are very strict on their rules. I get there and everyone is dragging around a laundry basket with a belt. So I mentally noted that for the next sale. I spent 2 hours there and brought home about 7 outfits for $34. Not too bad. I however saw a large potential toy to get Kate. It was $35 and bulky so at the time I wasn't sure how to get it in the car and if it was a good deal. After I realized it was a good deal. I loaded Kate up this morning (in the pouring rain) to go back and purchase it. It is the house facade that has a mailbox and open close door and alot of other entertainment buttons. This was the first day of the public sale so again there were a bunch of rules like no shopping carts, strollers, big purses/bags allowed. I sure hope she enjoys that toy because lugging her through a full parking lot in the pouring rain along with a bulking toy was not exactly fun. But YAY for deals! :)

Stand Off

Don just informed me that him and Petey (the dog) had a standoff at 4am this morning. Let me explain, Petey has decided that he no longer can go out the back door and down the 12 steps to the backyard to go to the bathroom. We have spoiled Petey lately by letting him go out front when it is raining so he doesn't have to be in the rain as long. Ha! (He gets distracted easily if it is not raining and next thing you know we are chasing him through neighbors yards in our underwear.) He is a very quirky, particular dog that just so happens to not like his paws wet. I mean, can you blame him?!? Anyway, so because it has been raining so much lately, he insists on the front door at night even if it is not raining. Don said he stood at the back door and Petey stood at the front. They did a long stare down where Don opened the back door. Don then closed the back door and went to bed. So did Petey.

I guess there were no true winners here, Don up at 4am and Petey not getting to relieve himself. There are some stubborn "people" in my family. I am learning this more and more everyday. :)

Somebody Dial 9-1-1...

On this 9th month, 2009, my baby girls turns 1-1. The countdown is on. As to the title, NO we have not dialed 9-1-1....yet! Hopefully we won't ever have to and she never accidentally calls that. She is in the stage though where you have to watch her every move because she is constantly trying to commit suicide.

Updates on Kate, Tate, Tater, Cup-Kate, CK, Don-na, Pistol Britches, and on and on and on:

- She has mad crawling skills and has for almost a month now.

- Her favorite words these days are da-da, ball, bye-bye, bubble, and mama (if she is mad).

- Not completely on finger foods yet. She tried some eggs this morning, not a big fan. She is going to be like her dad about the texture of food. :) She does like chicken, pork, hamburger meat, cheerios, bread, and some cheese. As to veggies, she would rather have those suckers pureed in her baby food.

- She likes to laugh. Sometimes she does just to get your attention in the room. Kate, the fake laugh is SO obvious. :) She is still only sporting her 6 teeth.

- Her da-da finally hung her swing last night and she thinks it is the coolest thing ever. Lots of giggles could be heard for miles around.

- She absolutely adores Petey. That is why "ball" is her favorite word. She knows if she is holding the ball, she has Petey has attention (and aggression). She also slips him a few cheerios on very frequent occasions.

- She is not sleeping through the night anymore. Ahhhhh! I wake up at least once with her and then again EARLY morning. It is the pits!

- We are in the process of weaning but are currently not progressing well due to her new found attitude. She slaps the sippy cup away when I try to force it. When I am not helping she sucks on the wrong end. Something has got to give!

- Not much hair but more than she had. It's truly a slow progression. We don't see much bend but the curl could be waiting to surprise everyone.

Things are starting to get fun around here. We look forward to the upcoming holiday season and our girl's 1st birthday.

Here is a picture from Saturday's Bama game:

Here are a few pics from Aunt Steph's 49th (plus a few) birthday party:

This picture cracks me up because it is indicative of Kate and Aunt Julie's relationship. Aunt Julie is always doing things to get Kate's reaction (i.e. sticking Kate's toys on her head, feeding her Orange Crush cake and such) and Kate just doesn't know what to think of Aunt Ju-Ju.

And finally...THE BIRTHDAY GIRL!

What Does This Say About Someone?

My name is Allison and I have a problem. It's called working too hard slaying over a hot stove for my Don Juan. Because of this dedication to my love, I have gathered some battle scars. I guess you could say that I fought the stove and the stove won? A few months ago it was a battle with the knife. As you can see now, it is a battle with the stove. Yikes!

As a result of this lack of patience and stupidity, I have invested in a cute oven mit along with a cute dishtowel. Hopefully this will remind me that if I play with fire, I will get burned AND ... a shopping trip will make you feel better about anything! :)

P.S. Let me tell you why blogging is a good thing. As a result of this post, I noticed that one of the balls was missing on the bottom of my new dishtowel. Guess what is getting exchanged today? Thank you blog post for bringing that to my attention.

Party Like It Is 1999!!!

October is a big upcoming month for us. We have my 10 year class reunion, football games, Halloween, AND Kate's 1st birthday!!! At first we just thought we would do a family party but now I am thinking we have to include our close church friends. I am thinking a Cup-Kate party in the back yard with horseshoes, badminton, football, kickball, and hula hoops. Of course all of the football games going inside. That should entertain everyone, right? I am so excited!! Let the planning begin!
