Does anyone know where I can find those little bitty bows to fit atop Kate's hair with toothpaste? This kind is kinda squishing her head:

Sunday Afternoon at Grandma's & Grandpa's

Just for future reference, Grandma is my mother, also known as Mamey (Amy with an M thrown on the front and an E thrown at the end), Grandpa is my father, also known as Pop. Kate and I stopped by Sunday afternoon and my parents ate her up. They just love the way she is putting on a show these days. What really tickled me was my dad giggling and truly believing she was the stinkin icing on the cake! As soon as we drove up, my mom snatched her up and took her in their bedroom where the coos and giggles multiplied. Kate loved it, even started squealing (which I had not heard before). Here are a few pictures from that experience:




Then I had to leave for a baby shower for a work friend of mine and in the meantime my grandmother drove up (which would be Kate's great grandmother). She also thought Kate was the TOAST! Here is a picture of her holding Kate:




It was a good visit!

Here is a picture of Don holding her the day he got home from work early. Side note: Don has been working like a dog lately. It really stinks but there is light at the end of the tunnel (March) and that is when we decided to take a road trip with our girl.






I think my little Kate will be a runner, tennis player, or soccer star based on her legs always moving and her constant scanning of the room. This girl doesn't miss much. Not sure who that is like. :)

One last side note. My grandmother brought it to my attention that I misspelled recession in an earlier post. I blame that on spell check. I always run spell check on my posts but the problem is, I always accept whatever they tell me it should be. Bad spell check, I had it right and you made me wrong!

An Eye for an Eye

Okay, after months of searching I may have found the one thing about Kate's appearance that looks like me. You guys decide...


Last night a lady at church told me that she had my eyes. I was thinking she might. I think they still have time to turn though.

I am not sure who Kate looks like though. What do you guys think? :)

A Historic Day on Many Accounts

Dear sweet Baby Kate,

My heart aches right now thinking about how much I love you and how excited I am about our future together. You are the sweetest little thing. These days you are cooing up a storm and you love it when your mommy talks back to you. You weigh 12.5lbs and are 3.5 months old. I would never have dreamed you could be this much fun at such a young age. It is the best feeling in the world when I get you from your crib and you smile that gummy smile at me.

For the reasons above, I turned in my resignation today. I no longer will be a career woman but rather a stay-at-home mommy to you. I am very grateful to your daddy for working so hard so that we can stay home. I am so happy that I will get to see you grow and develop. I only want the best for you and I will do everything in power to make your life as great as it can be.

I look forward to our future football games with daddy, our shopping trips with Mamey , our lake trips with Pop, and our cross country trips to see uncy Wade. We also can not forget about visiting your Oma and Grandpa Farmer on their farm in Alder Springs where you will transform into a little cowgirl. I hope you like to play with boys because you will have alot of them in your world with Ryan and Reid Renyer (first cousins) in Huntsville and Marco and Marshall McBride (third cousins) in Palmerdale. They might play a little rough but you will appreciate that roughness when you get to cheer them on as star linebackers for The University of Alabama (your favorite football team, ROLL TIDE!).

Also on this day, history was made when the first African American, Barack Obama, was sworn in as President of the United States. You and I have sat in front of the television all day and watched inauguration festivities. President Obama was elected the day you came home from the hospital (November 4, 2008). Expectations are high for this President as he inherits a recession compared to the Great Depression (you will learn about that one day). He also hopes to end an overseas war that was started with a terrorist attack on our World Trade Center, September 11, 2001.

Kate, I love you so much. I now understand the phrase loving someone so much it hurts. I feel that for you. Here is to this Historic Day, I am full of hope for our future!

Welcome to My Crib!

Lets see, summarization of January thus far...obsession with the Twilight Saga, discovery of the smile and the thumb, lots of work, and getting fatter and hiding under things if anything might sound scary. I will let you decide who did what.

As promised a long time ago, here are pics of Kate's nursery:





After we shared some laughs with our friends the Southerns, we decided to jump on the cool bus and buy a Wii. Of course that also involved purchasing Wii Fit. We should not run out of entertainment now when someone comes over. We have an Xbox (collecting dust), Wii (hasn't been set up yet), a pool table, a BABY, and a demanding dog. :) Here are some pics of Baylee and Ella holding Kate the other night...too cute:

This week we are moving Kate from the pack & play beside my bed to her crib. She should do fine because she has slept in there many times during the day. It is just sad because I feel like she is growing up. :) I think I will sleep on that side of the house the first few nights just for the transistion. Don will probably love it and sleep like a baby.

This week, I have Backwards Bunco tonight (dress like Kriss Kross) and a baby shower to go to on Sunday, near my parent's house. Once I get over my current addiction, maybe I can move on to more productive things like organizing my closet. I also would like to capture cup-Kate and I talking to each other on camera. She coos and then I coo back. I feel like an animal talking to its infant. Hey, whatever makes me and my babe happy, I'll do it. :)

Also, if anyone can tell me where to find a cute baby floor lamp at a reasonable price, that would be great! As you can tell from the pics, her floor lamp is office-y versus babyish. I might just have to paint it!

Are you my Mother?

As of yesterday, Kate is no longer in the brace...Ha-lay-lu-ya (yep, sounded out because I wasn't going to attempt to spell it)! Kate's Mamey insisted on buying her a surprise so we drove to Homewood's Toy and Hobby Shop where Mamey picked her up a Sleep Sheep. Here is Kate asking the sheep, "Are you my mother?" Along with Kate getting her brace off, I have her on a regimen. Twice a day she gets some tummy time. She holds her head up fairly well but does get tired at times so I hear this strengthens the neck. Here is Kate (and cheesy mommy voice) exercising her muscles (first one, happy, second one, frustrated):

By the way, there were 2 sounds in the video, the sleep sheep was making a whale sound. It also makes a heartbeat, rain, and ocean sound. The whale is coolest by far. Kate was also hiccuping, which is almost a daily occurrence. I also figured it would be a good thing to get Kate in her Bumbo chair considering she is about to grow out of it. :) Here is Kate styling around her 3 month birthday. A Fresh Start

Don and I welcomed in the new year with some friends. Kate rock-n-rolled all night too. She does that sometimes, marathon eating. She is growing like a weed. Last at home weight check showed around 11lbs. We also celebrated 34 years of Don on the 31st. Thank goodness I have a simple man. He didn't mind that we didn't do anything big and he ate his cupcake on his own while I tried to throw my girl in gear to go to church. We'll do better next year Don, I promise! :)

Big news in the last week is that my brother got ENGAGED! We are so excited to be heading to Colorado for an August wedding. Kate's first cross country trip. Yep, we have to do the whole plane ordeal. Fun times ahead!

Don and I are planning a Valentine's Savannah trip. I figure it would be a good thing to look forward to in the dead months of the year.

I went and saw the movie Marley and Me with a friend of mine and it reminded me of my life so much. Every since we have gotten Petey he has been a true handful, yet who we look forward to coming home to, who we constantly laugh at, who serves as a great foot heater at night, who we could not love anymore. His latest quirkiness is him always having to pick up one of his hind legs as he runs around something. I am guessing it helps him go faster, or at least he thinks so. Ha!

As the new year fell upon us, I started thinking about what I wanted to accomplish in the year. Here are my goals: 1) Be healthy - eat healthy, exercise, laugh alot 2) Be a good example for my little girl - whether it being staying ontop of house chores, reading my Bible, not thinking bad thoughts 3) Be a good wifey - cook good, clean good, and so on and so forth 4) Find some hobbies - whether it be sewing little girl dresses, photography (with our new Nikon D60), running 5) Embrace the Future but live in the present
