Busy Frizzy Lizzy

It was a busy, busy weekend. We had friends over Friday night and grilled out. Then Saturday, Don golfed and I went with my friend Keri and her girls garagesaling then we moved on to a 31 Party and Walmart. Don and I met up after that and watched a movie and ordered Cracker Barrell. Then of course Sunday was filled with church services, eating out, and washing cars. It was a busy, yet fun weekend. I loved getting out Saturday morning. I think yard-saling on Saturday mornings is going to become an addiction until I have loaded up on kid items. :) I only spent 50 cents this time though. We did the community one that Russett Woods in Hoover was having. I am probably going to be having my own come June. I have several pieces of furniture that I need to unload. I will try to post some pics on here before I unload so that if any of my friends want them, they can get them.

I bought a sewing machine Saturday. So look forward to future posts about my sewing injuries and projects. Notice I put injuries first. :)

Kate is becoming a very active child. She kicks those legs alot and isn't too much on sitting still. We usually take a walk around the block everyday to keep both her and her older brother (petey) entertained. I am starting to get to know my neighborhood and its inhabitants. :) Only problem is that I come back everyday thinking of all the things we need to change about our yard and the inside of our house by looking at all our neighbors beautifully landscaped yards (which the majority have someone else do). My "To Do" list gets ever so long. I think we will just move and "start right, stay right" with that house. This was our "practice" house. :)

Mom and I are frantically looking for a beach place for her, kate, my aunt julie and me to stay the weekend of May 14-17th. Don and I's 6 year anniverary is May 17th. I really can't believe it. Time truly flies by! I also can't believe Wade has less than 3 months and he will be a married man. My bro is all grown up. :)

Update about his wedding. Kate was invited to be in it with Gretchen's little neice Heidi. They are roughly the same age. I haven't talked to Gretchen yet to find out what is up her sleeve but I have a feeling it might involve a wagon with both girls inside. They will be precious...can't wait! Also, Wade and Gret want me to do a playlist of music for their reception. I think Gret said her and Wade will do one, along with her sister, and her mom's boyfriend. My music will have to represent the South. :)

I think I have rattled enough. This weekend we have little Ella Southern's 3rd birthday party at Pump It Up. Next weekend we are headed to A-ville to visit with the Farmers and Renyers (and Pete's cousins Rocko and Ruby).

WiCkEdLy FAIR

I went and saw Wicked Tuesday night with some friends and my mother. I had seen it before on Broadway but was interested in seeing it performed as they came through Birmingham. It was just as good the second time around. Elphaba's (the WICKED witch) voice was amazing. The music was SO good. If you haven't seen it, you should go sometime. We ate at Fire & Ice in Southside beforehand. If you have never been there, it is really neat. Basically they give you a little stainless steel bowl and you fill it up with your choice of veggies and meat (they have all you can think of). Then you choose a sauce. You take all of this to this the cook at this large grill and he cooks it for you super fast. It was so neat and so good. Thanks to our friend Brooke, we got some extra special treatment that night from the cook. He made us lasagna and stir-fry (or his version) without us even asking. Thanks Brooke for winning him over for us. :o

Update on Petey and Kate interaction... Petey thinks any new "toy" that Kate gets is also his "toy". I bought Kate some soft blocks that squeak the other day. As soon as I pulled one out of the package, Petey was stalking her waiting for the block to fall from her hands. Eventually I just let him see it. He went crazy over it. Lots of slobber and teeth marks later, it became Petey's block. Only problem is that he thinks all blocks are his. He scratches on the side of the pack-n-play for the new block that Kate is playing with. (Yes, we have to put Kate in the pack-n-play if we want her to be able to play without us standing as guard over her eyes (i.e. Petey's nails going into her eyes by accident)). Petey also LOVES fruit baby food especially pears. He gets to lick the disposable lid. Pete-dog is all about some fair treatment of children. :) Here is a video I promised of my little screecher. Enjoy... :)

Easter Festivities

A week before Easter we headed up to my parents house to dye Easter eggs with my mom. Kate didn't know what to think of the egg. Here are a few pics...

Then the night before Easter we went over to some friends and dyed some more Easter eggs...

Here are a few from Easter that we took after we had lunch at my parents...

All together a very enjoyable day! We can't wait until next year when she will be hunting those eggs (at least we think she will ).

50th Percentile

At Kate's 6th month check-up yesterday, she weighed in at 16 lbs and 6 ounces. She was 25 and a half inches long and a 16 and 3/4 inches wide head circumference. That makes her in the 50-75 percentile for weight, 50 percentile for height and 50 percentile for head. One of the doctors passed by her while we were waiting to be weighed and commented, "Gerber Baby". I liked it. :)

Hipp...Hipp...

opatamus, Hipp, Hipp, Hooray, God made all us!

Last Friday Kate and I ventured to the zoo with the Southern girls and the Dyer girls. We started off looking at the Hippo and then ventured over to the Rhinos and then off to the giraffes, lions, and tigers. It was a little chilly but might have worked in our favor because it wasn't that crowded. Here are a few pics...

Happy 1/2 yr Birthday Baby Kate!

Yesterday was sweet Kate's 1/2 year birthday. She celebrated the day by having her 6 months photo shoot. Can I just admit that I dread picture day with a passion! I slave away weeks before determining the perfect outfit, then I spend hours the day of making sure everything is ironed perfectly, along with trying to make sure her schedule is perfect so she will be in the utmost mood when the photographer shows up. Lets just say, it all didn't go according to plan. I think our photographer took around 400 pictures so hopefully there will be 3 or 4 we like. :)

Sweet Baby Kate,

You are currently sitting up fairly well but not yet all by yourself. You have rolled a few times but not very consistently and only from back to tummy. Your mommy might not have given you the opportunities for the other. :) Mommy is starting to see some hair growth around the crown of your head with little dark brown/black stickerbushes popping out. You have started this new squeal/screech thing when you are happy or borderline unhappy. You like to make these noises over and over again no matter when or where (i.e. church last night). Mommy will try and get a video of this. You absolutely love Petey and he loves you too. Mommy catches him kissing on you all the time then she has to wipe you down. Last Sunday mommy was making whoopy cushion sounds with her mouth and you were repeating them back and smiling real big. Your mommy got a kick out of that. You absolutely love baby food, even though all you have had thus far is veggies. Mommy is going to let you try some applesauce for Easter this Sunday. You recognize both your mommy and daddy's voice. Whenever someone else is holding you at church and your mommy is talking, you search for her voice. You also listen very attentively when mommy puts daddy on the speaker phone (while petey licks the phone because he loves his daddy too). You are such a sweet girl and mommy and daddy thank God every day that he blessed them with you.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Challenges

Updates on the Farmers include back arches, knife attacks, e-mealz, raises, and getting home early. Wooohoooo!

Kate still doesn't have the sit-up by herself down yet, but she can do a mean back arch when she wants to squirm out of a particular hold. She also is extremely vocal and likes to jabber to herself at high octaves. I just love her to pieces!

I have started cooking thanks to e-mealz, which did I mention I just LOVE. If you don't remember my post on this refer here. If you decide to do it, make sure and sign up through that link so I will get credit. But about the knives, for some reason I have stabbed myself 4 times in a matter of like 2 weeks. Seriously guys! Two of the times was in one sitting. Don't worry, none of the blood got in the food, but I do have to get better with this. I think it is from my lack of patience. :)

Don got a raise today therefore we will be celebrating real soon. Yay for jobs! Also, Don has been getting home early this week. Double yay! He has been working like a dog since Kate came along.

Tomorrow, Kate and I are off to dye some Easter eggs with Mamey. Friday we might be going to the zoo. We are having the young adults from church over to our house on Tuesday. Got to get this house cleaned and figure out a big meal to cook.
