Yesterday

Mom and I spent half the day together yesterday with Kate and Petey. We stopped at a park to let Kate stretch her legs and Petey use the bathroom. I also had to go so mom directed Kate over to the playground as I went. Petey stood outside the door and scratched and whined then disappeared. I walked out of the bathroom and here come running as fast as they could, BOTH of my children. They both had to cross a small field/grass area so it took a little time to get to me. I bent down and opened my arms and Kate threw herself in them. Man I felt loved and needed! Mom reflected on that scene this morning to me and said when she thought about it she started crying. It brought back memories of when Wade and i were babies and she was our whole world. She also thought about how much we needed her then. I laughed at mom and asked her if she was hormonal then I laughed and said I will probably do the same when I watch my grandkids. Kate is absolutely at the most precious stage right now. She is so sweet and loving. She has a ton of personality and is REAL honest about the way she feels. I love watching her stumble around on her tip-toes. I am trying to freeze as much of it as I can in my head. Time marches on but I am thankful for beautiful memories.

"Yesterday,
...
Oh, I believe in yesterday." :)

Baby Stuff

I am not sure what it is about my makeup but its like I can't start making decision about this child in my tummy until I know if it is a girl or boy. I have a week and a half for that. Yay!

I have started thinking though and it has drawn me to many questions. Will I be able to reuse Kate's crib? Kate will just be turning 2 around that time and I not quite sure I am ready to put her in something where she will be able to escape. There will already be enough sleepless nights, hopefully without Kate in mix. So this means, I have to buy another crib. Not too excited about this. Mom and dad have a crib that mom said she will loan me until Kate is able to sleep in a bigger bed, but the whole reason mom and dad bought that crib was to have one up there for the grandbabies. So I don't really want to do that. So I think I will buy a cheap crib. I mean one that meets all standards but not $400 +. To be honest it will be easier decision in some aspects if it is a boy because I would have to had bought a new crib because Kate's crib is fairly girlie. I have seen several people lately post pics of the spindle bed, I think they are called Jenny Lind. Well I know nothing about these but I am kinda digging the look. So I looked one up on google to get an ideal on how much they cost....$150. We can handle that. Here is a pic...

Or maybe in cherry. It also converts to toddler bed.

So then, how about baby bedding? Well last time we spent around $150 on custom baby bedding that a lady here in town made out of her house. We have learned since then she has doubled her prices. Not sure I want to spend $300 on something that I took out of Kate's crib as soon as she started moving, which equals 3 or 4 months. Seriously, all we left in there was the sheet which equates to about $20-$30. I don't want to jip this baby on a cute bedroom though. Decisions, decisions! I guess I will start my mad search next Friday or Saturday. We have in the past had friends use Javisdavis.com and that stuff is extremely cute but not sure I am ready to shell out the big bucks. We'll see... Just thinking for now.

My last concern is strollers. Obviously with a 2 year old and a newborn, I am going to need a double stroller. I am not big on the side by side ones though. I just figure I will always be fighting doors. Mom and I dropped in Buy Buy Baby last week (can I just say I love that store!) and test drove a Joovy.

Seriously, that stroller drives SO nice. My concerns with it are that when the carseat is in the front with new baby and Kate is on back looking at me, that Kate will have to sit thrown forward because baby's carseat is eating up some on her head space. I am going to research this alot but if anyone has any input please let me know.

Now how about that new car! Probably have to wait a few years on that one. Hard to buy when yours is paid for and still running good. Ignore the fact that it has close to 180,000 miles on it.

3 weeks!

3 weeks from yesterday (that will be July 2nd at 10am) and we will know if this baby in my tummy is a boy or girl! Yay! Oh yeah, thanks for all the guesses so far, and for those that haven't guessed, do it now (see post before this one). It will be fun with the more people involved in guessing. So far, everyone is definitely thinking boy but I am not sure if it is because everyone thinks that is what I want OR that is just what I don't have. It definitely is a shot in the dark. :)

I went to the doc yesterday. We heard a strong heartbeat of 158-165. I asked the doc if that meant a girl, he said "yes." Then he said, "Does that mean boy?"..."yes." :) So anywho, yay for strong heartbeat! I had only gained 1 pound since my 8 week initial check-up. I think I wore relatively heavy clothes the first check-up so I actually think I have gained between 4-6lbs. :) I definitely know the belly is a growing. No worries!

Kate has been in swim lessons this week. It has been fun but exhausting. We have class from 8:45-9:15 every morning (excluding Friday) then we wait on our friends the Southern girls and Dyer girls to do their swim lessons at 9:30 then the pool opens at 10:30. I let Kate swim (which really equals run in and and out of the big pool 50 times) for an hour and then we head home before a melt down happens (had to learn that hard the first day). Kate is getting tan...mommy is frying. Will take pics next week.

We have another shower given by our little church group tomorrow. We are excited for Cecily and Chad and their upcoming July 17th wedding. I know I promised pictures from Brooke's baby shower 2 weeks ago. I am going to do the lazy thing and refer you to Kelly's blog. See here

Guess-timation Time

Alright my peeps. We are 5 weeks away from finding out the gender of our baby. I found this game on another girl's blog and wanted to try it. It is a game where your friends guess what you are having. I believe this girl didn't find out gender until delivery so I will have to tweak this a little. Go ahead and guess though, it will be fun! Maybe I can even think up a prize for winner! Ha!

Crazy Weekend

and that is how I like it! This weekend we crammed full of activities. It started on Friday when we had lunch with the ladies from church at Dale's Southern Grill, then Kate and I went to visit my grandmother. I love seeing Kate with my grandmother. I adore my grandmother who is 82 with a broken arm. Even though she is down she is not out. She is still trying to take care of us and feeding us all her food. :) Kate and I drove home in hurricane rain to get ready to head down to NorthRIver Country Club (In Tuscaloosa) for dinner with our friends (who are members). It was suppose to be out overlooking the lake but the rain changed the plans again so we ate inside. We had a good time catching up with our buddies Heath and Ashley and I was a zombie by the time we got home.

Saturday, we headed up to Cullman, AL and had lunch at AllSteak. It is wonderful food if you are ever in Cullman. For lunch they have lots of veggie choices and at dinner they have nicer entrees. They also have famous orange rolls that they serve with their rolls. I always have to bring those home because I am SO stuffed. We left there and headed to mom and dad's new lake house. The house is almost completely finished from what you can see from the outside, the inside is however a shell. It will probably take until next summer to completely finish it because mom and dad are trying to bite off a little at a time. It is super nice though and they are really trying to set it up so we won't have much maintenance up there. The screened in porch overlooking the lake is where we will spend all of our time. There was a nice little breeze out there Saturday and we spend about an hour and a half out there letting Kate run around with toys Mamey brought her before we headed home. On the way home I talked Don into stopping by the place that we were to have a baby shower for a friend the next day. Even though my friends Kelly and Keri said they would do the setup, I figured I better drop by to show support. They had already done a ton but I stayed for a little while as Don drove Kate and Petey to get dinner.

Sunday was church then a quick lunch at Moes before heading back to "Engaged" where the baby shower was to be for Brooke Williams (mother of Caroline Williams, due July 10th). The shower was decorated SO cute and Brooke was really happy with everything. She completely racked up on gifts for Caroline. I don't have any pictures on my camera but as soon as Kelly post some, I will post. :) Then back to church Sunday night.

Monday, Don headed back down to NorthRiver with Heath to play a round of golf. Kate and I also headed down to NorthRiver with Ashley to try out the gigantic outdoor pool that NorthRiver has. We had SUCH a good time. The pool was great and we were completely entertained. The lifeguards had games for kids every 30 minutes, so there was always stuff going on. They also had a baby pool that Kate was able to walk around in with other kids her size. She loved that.

I think that wraps up our busy weekend. We laid low yesterday but we plan to meet up with my mom today. We might go to that Alabama Furniture Market in Calera today. We have plans for the zoo tomorrow and Friday with 2 different groups. :)
