Sans Eating Out

We crammed a bunch in last week and this past weekend. The picture above is from our little friend Trey's 3rd birthday party. it was at a park in Mountain Brook on a scorcher of a day. This crazy lady was hired by Trey's mom as entertainment. She was pretty comical. She sang, danced, made things out of balloons, gave out candy and did face painting and tattoos.

Last week we went to Cherub's Clubhouse 2 times, Wednesday and Friday. If you have never been there, it is located in Pelham on Hwy 31 and is basically an indoor playhouse. We paid $6 and the kids got to play for 2 hours. Wednesday there was hardly anyone there but Friday it was a packed house. We will be back.

After Trey's party on Saturday, Kate and I headed to T-town with our friend Ashley. This time the guys joined us for a swim out at NorthRiver's pool. We had to wait 2 hours before we got in the water due to a little thunder. Kate surprisingly did really well. After leaving there we stopped by Dreamland BBQ for some ribs and sandwiches. On the way over the our friend Heath found out he won a Harley Davidson! He was ecstatic. Ashley was nervous. He did have an option for a cash payout. I haven't gotten the latest on that yet. Yikes!

Sunday was our normal rounds on church. We decided Sunday at lunch that we might need to take hiatus on eating out. Kate starting not acting right, right around the time everyone's food was brought out. She also didn't do well Thursday when we ate out for the lady's luncheon. Due to her being around her terrible twos (even though I hear 3 is worse), I am going to take it easy on myself and our bank account and eat at home. :) See all our eat out buddies in a few months. :)

No Rain on Our Parade

It rained hard (at times) all weekend long however we still managed to get out and enjoy plans we already made. We started off the weekend by having Tazikis' yummy Friday special and then attending Kate's first baseball game with friends. We saw the Birmingham Barons play the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx. Best part about game was that Kate was given a jersey when we carried her in, it says "Birmingham" across the front. Cool! Kate was not very good for the game. She walked up and down the steps the whole time. I figured she would be well entertained with Baylee, Ella, Hayleigh, Hannah, and Jake. Oh no! So we left in 4th inning. Besides, it was close to her bedtime and she was in the beginning phase of a cold. Yuck! Here are a few pictures from our night...

Saturday night we attended some church friend's wedding, Chad and Cecily Barnett. It was a beautiful wedding in Southside at the Historical Rucker Place. The food was "slap your mama" good. Seriously the mac n' cheese and fried green tomatoes are making my mouth water right now. Yummmm! Kate and Don sat in the car until after the ceremony. I couldn't take a chance of Kate causing an interruption. :) Here are a few pics from the night...

Jake and Kate - 4 months apart in age:

Also, I am meeting August 3rd with the lady that did Kate's bedding about baby boy's bedding. Her prices went up but I told her that all I really wanted was the bumper and sheet. I also might get a crib skirt. So by basically taking off the blanket and the pillow, we are getting it for half price. :)

Is it ironic...

that my husband is a chemE and I am currently ridding my house of all chemicals? If I smell them or see them I get this out of control fear that I have hurt my baby or myself and we will both die of cancer. Good bye stable mama, hello crazy! Yep, she's back!!! Poor Don, seriously I am out of control. Don has to tell me 1-5 times a day that everything is okay. I am revealing this to the world because I and our baby need your prayers, as well as anyone around me. Help us all!

On another note, we are trying to come up with some name choices. I figure we will end up going with a traditional name. Thanks to Don having like 8 uncles with traditional names, all of those have been nix-nayed. Yikes! I really didn't think we knew that many people until you start thinking name choices and then most names get nix-nayed because you know someone with that name. ahhhh! exhausting! I have a list of about 15 right now that Don and i will have to seriously go over and start dwindling down.

Also, the crib and baby bedding are being seriously perused. There is a place you can make your own fabric called http://www.spoonflower.com. That's kinda cool. All I really need is a bumper and sheet. As for the skirt, I could get a generic blue somewhere. I also like http://www.serenaandlily.com/Baby. Of course I would like everything extremely expensive. So typical of me. We'll see what we can come up with. For now it is scour the internet of all things likeable.

It's a No-No to Kiss a Rhino

Yesterday morning we visited the Hoover Library because our friend Keri had mentioned that Roger Day was going to be there and how entertaining he was for kids. I also saw online where someone posted how fantastic the show was so we made an effort to attend. We got there at 9:40 thinking I might have to waste some time before a line formed....WRONG. There already was a mass of young kids and parents headed downstairs to the Library Theatre. We headed on down and I am so glad we did. We were able to get front row, center seats with some of our friends. The show was great and FREE! Can't beat that! I now have the song "It's a No-No to Kiss a Rhino" stuck in my head. Seriously, I woke up to the tunes in my head. We also bought a DVD of which we have watched 3 times since yesterday. :) Here is one of his you tube videos if you want to get an idea of the type of show he puts on...also he will be at the Homewood Library July 27th if anyone is interested...

A Little Comparison

Considering that baby boy and big sis Kate's due dates are only 1 day apart (boy = November 25th, Kate = November 24th), I wanted to take a belly shot around the same time. It is actually in the same dress. I didn't necessarily plan it all out but by coincidence I was wearing the same dress to church today that I did a day I worked back in July of 2008. I looked up the date of when the photo was taken with Kate...July 14, 2008. I took this one today, July 11th. So basically very close. Here is the side by side comparison at 20.5 weeks...

Let me point out a few things about the comparison above: we have a much better camera now, I am angled a little differently then I did with my first one, the sun is obviously in a different spot, and my hair is different (ha!). Anyway, they are pretty close in comparison but I think I might be a little bigger with this one. I think I lagged with weight gain at first but based on my appetite lately, baby boy is trying to catch up. He must be competitive like his momma. :)

Great Date Night

Okay, Don and I haven't been on a date in SO long. I totally just swiped the below link off someone's facebook status. I only read through the first date so if it says anything weird, don't blame me, but we might try it. :)

Moochers

Thanks to our friends the Hills, we were able to enjoy a huge pool today. It is at Northriver Yacht Club in T-town. It is seriously the size of 5 regular sized pools and there were like 20 people total in the pool. I had been before on Memorial Day and the place was packed with kid games going every 30 minutes by the lifeguards. I couldn't believe the ghost town today. We definitely enjoyed it along with the view over Lake Tuscaloosa. Shortly after this, Don left to join Heath on the golf course. Thanks Hills!
