8 weeks & counting

Okay...we are finally in single digits! Woohoo! Baby furniture should be in, in 2 weeks, along with bedding. At parenting class this week Don had to try on the pregnancy suit so that he could sympathize with the weight I am carrying around. Here is a picture...

I heard alot of the men say that it was pretty heavy. Uh, yeah guys! Try bending over. :)

Petey went to the dermatologist this week and his weight was up to 10.5lbs. Wooh Mama! So he started off in July at 8.7lbs and now he is at 10.5lbs. I blame it on the roids they have had him on to help get over his infection that his etopical dermatitus caused him. Now, we got to figure out how to get a pound and a half off of him. I guess I will have to go run with him once Kate gets here. Here is a cute picture of him this week...late night...

October is going to be crazy busy with 2 showers, Kentucky football game, 1 make-up parenting class, 2 weeks spent in Auburn for work (my last travel for PwC), and Halloween and anything else that comes up. Busy, busy!

We are about to head to Huntsville for the day and night, we will come back tomorrow afternoon after church. We decided it probably would be good to get some time in with our sweet nephews and their parents before little Kate shows up. I will post pictures of Reid and Ryan on my next post. Also, this will be a great tester of Petey around a baby. I sure hope he behaves.

Updates!!!

Let's see...we are still waiting on nursery furniture and I really have no idea when it will come in. They told us 8-12 weeks when we ordered on August 8th but then she confused me by saying the manufacturer would not be filling orders until August 16th and then it would only be a few weeks after that. I might have to call in a few weeks and get an estimate. The nursery furniture is supposed to be ready October 8th! Can't wait! Hopefully the curtains will be hung tomorrow. Don and I essembled the travel system stroller last Sunday. At least we can get Kate home now :)! Mom and dad ordered us a rocker chair that will hopefully be in, in a few weeks. Ahhhh! I already feel like a bad mom with no nursery to show forth and almost 9 weeks left....I am trying Kate. I got some showers coming up that I am really excited about. It will feel so real then, but believe me, the little thumps I am getting from within my tummy makes it feel pretty real too. She is over 3lbs now. I am very large. I will take a 35 week picture and post but that will probably be it on the photos for a while :). Here are pictures of the furniture I am getting in the store...

Lifetime Crib that will convert to Full size bed

Dresser and Hutch

The crib I wanted but wasn't as practical :)

Oh, one thing I haven't mentioned is us going to parenting class. Don and I have been scheduled to attend parenting class every Tuesday of the month of September (except the last). The first week we learned about natural births of which noone in my class planned on having (we all want to be selfish like it said on the movie, Baby Mama, of which you HAVE to see). We had to reschedule the 2nd week because I had to go to Peachtree City, GA for some training for work. We went this past Tuesday and learned about C-sections, after care of the mom, and took a tour of the birthing suites. Don and I got there 30 minutes late after they changed classrooms on us, ahhh! Anyway, the after care part kinda freaked me out but what do you do, no turning back now?!? Another thing that kinda wooohed me was the stirups in the birthing suites. WOW! Somehow we are suppose to put our bottom at the end of the beds and the hike our legs up (going different directions, of course) where our back thigh goes in the support part. We all had questions on how it could be our thigh going in there, shouldn't it be our calves? Anyway, she said thigh. We'll see how this works out. Next week is care of the baby. We are suppose to bring cameras so I will be sure to post.

Okay, what else has been going on with the Farmers....I turned 27 this week (that is the picture at the top with Don and me at Superior Grill celebrating with my parents)! Ouch! I guess it happens to all of us. I have been working like a mad dog in Tuscaloosa on Foundation audits of which the person originally assigned left the firm so I had to pick up some pieces and deadlines. It has been nice being around college students though. I am so entertained about how they try to not care about their looks, but they really do care. Ah, the days! Don got sick 2 weeks ago with a raging cold of some sort. He always brings home the germs. I slept in another bedroom and washed my hands a bunch so I didn't get it. It has worked so far! I was able my friend Becky last weekend that I haven't seen in a while and since she has had a precious baby girl, Lily. She lives in Tampa now so I always make a point to see her when she is home. We had a nice conversation when her 2 girls slept. I had lots of mama questions to ask her. It was like we bonded on a new level because we are now sharing the same experiences. We have known each other since we were 5 years old so that makes it even more special.

Plans for this weekend - Don is playing golf this morning with his buddy Heath. I am suppose to be cleaning, then I am going to do my birthday shopping for Don (which involves purchasing new makeup and some maternity clothes, I told you I am getting LARGE), then Heath and Ashley are coming over to watch the Bama game (we DVRed it so we will probably start it an hour and a half late), then we move onto the Florida/Tennessee game, and then end with the Auburn/LSU game. Wow, what a jampacked day....of course! Tomorrow is church, hanging curtains, and more church. Whew!

I will leave you with some flowers Don gave to me for my Birthday. He is a keeper! :)

Football Kickoff & Curtains

We got back yesterday afternoon from a very exciting get away to Atlanta, GA. We witnessed a surprise victory when the Crimson Tide defeated the Clemson Tigers, 34-10. I will admit, I was holding my breath the whole time and didn't believe we had the "W" until there was about 5 minutes left in the game. If you have been an Alabama over the last few years, you understand my uncertainty. It was a blast to say the least! We went over there with my mom and dad Saturday morning and returned Sunday afternoon. We had a wonderful meal in Marietta, GA after checking into the hotel at Stoney River. Its a a steak joint and it was amazing! I would recommend it to anyone. The GA Dome was truly alive once we got there 45 minutes prior to kickoff. The Clemson fans were very nice and had real catchy cheers. I did get a little nervous when all of them started jumping to a certain song the GA Dome played. Seriously the Dome was shaking! :) We sat in the Clemson section due to the Clemson section being alot cheaper to buy on Ebay. Needless to say, we had a great time and are hopeful for the 2008 football season. Here are a few pics from that night...

Today I went with a friend of mine, Keri Southern, to shop for baby stuff. Since she is a mother of 2 little girls, I figured she was an obvious choice to give me advice. We started out at Pottery Barn which has precious stuff (of which I eyed Kate a Halloween costume for next year, possibly the pumpkin or puppy dog), then made our way to Babies R Us. Keri confirmed I made a good choice on my stroller/travel system selection then we found the prize of the day...curtains for Kate's room. I was going to have someone make her some but we found some on clearance that I believe will be perfect. Here they are, 1st is the curtain taken out of the bag, 2nd one is up close curtain with my swatch sample of the bumper I am having made, and below that is a link to the same curtain being sold on ebay...

Once I get some of the nursery together, I will be sure to post some pictures.

The last stop today was at Belk. We found this little dress marked down and I figured Kate would have to have it. I plan to do a little more shopping in the coming days for Kate some marked down clothes for next summer.

Football Season is Upon Us

Okay, so I used to think that Spring was my favorite time of the year. It was the end to my busy season and there was new life all around me. Well now I have a new favorite time of the year...Fall! As you can tell by the title of this thread, one of the reason is because of it being football season. Another reason is because I love cool, crisp days spending time with my husband grilling out on the deck. Its the one time of the year we spend almost all of our weekend together. It truly makes me happy! It also marks the start of holidays and lots of love around us. Well this year, as you know, we have something additional to be excited about and that is our little Kate entering this world. 13 weeks left! I have a feeling I am about to start exploding. In the meantime, I have ALOT to do around the house. Like, finishing getting her room ready which involves, getting the nursery furniture in, setting it up, getting the crib bedding (Oct. 8th expected finish date), having curtains made, decorating the walls, possible purchase of a chandelier and rug, among other things. I also want to make sure my floors are really clean so we might have someone come out and professionally clean them, especially since we have a dog in the house. Also on my list is all my Christmas shopping and to have the Christmas decorations up by the beginning of November. Its so funny but I really want to decorate for Fall this year, like by having pumpkins sitting around and all Fall like decorations. I guess this is just the start of me really getting into Holidays. I think my mom told me once that children will do that to you. My brother is coming home from Colorado on November 23rd and is suppose to stay through the 29th. I hope Kate is here by then (mom kinda put the pressure on me, like I can decide when she arrives). We also love to have our Wadey home with us. It should be interesting to see how he is with the baby. She will love him one day...probably will want to live with him. Okay, enough rattling for now. Our weekend plans include going to my parents house on Friday and spending the night then getting up Saturday morning and heading to Atlanta for the Clemson/Bama game at the Georgia Dome. We are going to spend the night and head back to Birmingham on Sunday after church. Not sure on Monday's plans yet...

Finally, crib bedding chosen & Finalization of her NAME

So I have been very frustrated for a few weeks because I knew there was cute crib bedding out there but I was having trouble finding it for the price I wanted to pay. I had looked on several websites to get ideas, http://www.javisdavis.com/ and http://www.polkatotdesigns.com/ but I really wasn't ready to shell out the big bucks. I heard about a lady on Hwy 119 that made custom baby bedding for $150 a set. I thought I would definitely give her a try. Mom and I went out there 2 weeks ago and saw all the fabric that she had. She did have alot but nothing really hit the spot with me. I wanted a soft, sweet look and she had alot of bold fabrics. We asked her about getting some I had seen in a store and she thought she could do that and then send me the swatches for the companion prints. I waited as 2 weeks rolled by and then I had to take action. The whole nursery depended on the fabrics in the bedding so I decided to go back by the ladies house and see a similar toile fabric that she was currently working on for a little boy. It looked really good so I decided to get it for our little Kate. By the way, Don and I have officially agreed, that is her name, Katherine Elizabeth Farmer, in short, Kate! Here is what the toile fabric looks like...
I am going to get the lady to pull the soft pinks out in a minky dot pink fabric so that one side of the bumper will be the toile above and one side will be a pink minky dot fabric that looks like this, . She is also doing Kate a blanket that has the pink minky dot and a chocolate minky dot that looks like this, . I am going to get her to monogram the bumper on the pink minky dot side with Kate initials, KEF. The lady also does a small pillow and a fitted crib set which is included in the price above. I think I am going to get the pillow in a off white minky dot with a brown & white polkadot ribbon to go around with a bow at the top. The brown and white polkadot ribbon is also used at the top of the bumper where the toile meets the pink minky dot and to tie the sides of the bumper onto the crib. I will probably get a chocolate brown fitted crib sheet but the pink is also an option. I am very excited about seeing the finished product. She should have it to me by October 8th. Our furniture should come in sometime in the month of September. Yay! Now I just got to get started on the curtains, chair, and accessories.

Smith Lake and Watermelon

Petey and I took off to the lake this past weekend while Don stayed home and worked on his favorite hobby, golf. We had a great time. The weather was perfect and there were not too many boats on the lake. Mom and dad got up there before we did and freshened up. They always make it so nice for us. We went on a sunset cruise Saturday night. The dogs loved it. We borrowed my uncle's pontoon boat and it was perfect. I truly love the lake and believe I might be part fish. :)

We did have one scare at the lake though. Petey is just getting used to the water and he is still real skiddish. Mom brought a float done that was canvas and kept the dogs pretty much out of the water. Petey started jumping off the pier onto the float as I held it steady. Then when I would get close to the the pier, he would jump off and onto the pier. He misjudged his leap one time and hit the side of the pier and fell into the water. He was under the water for like 2 seconds. I jumped off my float to save him and mom jumped off hers to save me. He popped right up and we placed him on the pier. I thought it would have really shaken him up. Not one bit! I think he actually liked it and was ready to get back in.

Mom also cut up a huge watermelon. There is nothing like a warm summer day eating ice cold watermelon in the deep South. Good memories!

I will start adding pictures with my blogs in the future. I promise!

16 more weeks!

Today marks the start of my 24th week. Time is flying now. So much to do in so little time. Don and I visited with some family members this weekend who recently had a little boy and they pretty much scared us to death of our lack of free time and lack of sleep. Their little boy is 3 months old and precious but they said sleep is like an afterthought. Not good for a gal that gets very ill without her precious sleep. Don's sister is expected to go into labor any day now. Her due date is August 17th but she has already dilated 4 centimeters. We are so excited for Reid Alexander to enter the world! Our little munckin is sitting tight these days....chewing on cud :). I think she might be like Don because she wakes up late and goes to bed late. She moves around a decent amount but she isn't kicking strong enough for Don to feel yet. And she is so quick with her movements. I love feeling her move though because it lets me know everything is alright. The thought has finally entered my mind that baby is coming out one way or another and there is not a no pain route. :) Guess I will have to suck it up! I am giving Don a week to finalize the name. He does not know this yet but I have told everyone our strongest potential choice of Katherine Elizabeth, and call her Kate. Katherine was Don's dad's mom's name and Elizabeth is my mom's middle name, Don's mom's middle name, and my grandmother Keith's middle name.

On this week's agenda is tonight going to see the Dark Knight for the second time with some girls from church, tomorrow I am going with my mom to talk to a lady about making custom bedding for the baby girl, Wednesday night we have church, nothing Thursday night and Friday night is a promotion party and Casino night at work. Don and I hope to win a sweet gift card at Casino night. Saturday I am leaving for the lake with Petey while Don stays in town and golfs on Saturday and potentially works on a project Sunday. (all of this pending Tab does not have her baby)
